Happy 2011!

Happy New Year friends and family!!! We are so excited that 2011 has finally come! 2010 was a very blessed year for us, but we are hoping that 2011 is even more blessed! We hope that you and your family have a very blessed year too!

We had a wonderful Christmas at home with the Gluhr side of the family. Santa really spoiled us rotten with a new mama mobile (2011 Subaru Forester) and new kitchen appliances. Now there is no excuse for Maja not to cook in the New Year. Even little Judah got several wonderful gifts, an adorable elephant lamp for the nursery, an elephant nightlight, some good Bob Marley lullaby music, a cuddly lion, and some radical tyedie and Benny Beaver onesies!

Drew said "So long to tools" and "Hello to paint brushes" as of last week! Drew left Leatherman and started his new job as the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager at Purdy. For those of you who are do-it-yourself home improvement gurus you'll know exactly how wonderful Purdy is! Purdy is a high-end paint brush company which started in Portland, OR and is now owned by Sherwin-Williams. Not only is Purdy great place to work, they also offer an adoption credit and two weeks paid leave for adopting fathers!!! We couldn't be happier! As for Maja....let's hope this is last year sitting at a desk staring at excel spreadsheets. Bring on the full-time mother job ASAP!!!

We are still waiting for the mailman to bring our approval letter from immigration....should be any day now! As soon as we get that document we send in our Dossier. We are hoping to be on the referral waiting list by the end of January. Since Santa spoiled us so much we decided to set up the nursery in February.

Maja's only New Year's resolution is to be more crafty!!! We have decided to fundraise for our travel expenses to Ethiopia so we are going to sell some handmade items....pictures and link to esty coming soon!

  1. Hey Lady! I love your story and I am SO very excited for you and your husband. You are good people. I love blogging and I wanted to share this other blogger from Tualatin http://embracecompassion.blogspot.com/ You should follow her blog! She is in Ethiopia right now visiting a family and raised 500 lbs of goods to take to the village. She might have some tips for you on traveling or raising goods before you leave. Her name is Jennifer, super nice and on FB too :) XO
